Why does english have so many terms for fantasy creatures and magic where other languages do not?

To put it simply, because English is a mash-up of several languages. English as we know it didn't exist until about five or six hundred years ago, and is descended from a variety of European languages. That's why there are so many different terms, we just borrow them and stick our own meaning on them.
