My 6 month old kitten I believe sprayed once before we got him neutered. Will he continue to spray?

We adopted a stray at around 4-5 months the vet guessed. We were told we had to wait till he was 6 months before he was neutered. I noticed he sprayed just before his appointment to get neutered. Now a few days after, i think he just sprayed again. Will this be a common occurrence? Would appreciate any feedback!
